Mr. Miles has been the managing engineer for US Waterways for Bergmann in Rochester, NY for the past 32 years. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at Syracuse University and has had over 45 years of experience in navigation engineering and management. He is a member of the Inland Waterways International Council, Canal Society of New York State Board of Directors, and a member of the PIANC partners group on Navigating Climate Change. He has completed numerous new and rehabilitation lock and dam design projects for the US Army Corps of Engineers, St. Lawrence Management Corporation, St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation, NYS Canal Corporation, and other state agencies and canal authorities. His extensive experience includes many of the largest and most innovative civil works projects in the U.S. and Canada, providing sustainable and cost-effective solutions in the climate-changing inland waterways world.
