Options

Full conference registration includes

  • Morning presentations Monday through Thursday
  • Afternoon study tours Monday through Wednesday, lunch included
  • Sunday evening reception
  • Monday evening dinner
  • Wednesday evening banquet

You are responsible for your own accommodations.

Full conference pricing (click here to register)

  • $540 Standard registration June 1-July 31 for IWI members
  • $625 Standard registration June 1-July 31 for non-members. (Note IWI memberships cost £25 per year. You can join here.)
  • $675 Late registration August 1-15.

Accompanying person registration includes morning sightseeing tours in lieu of the conference presentations. Accompanying persons can join the afternoon study tours and participate in the evening events. The price is $425.

Day tickets are available Monday through Wednesday. There are two options:

  • $200 ticket allows you to attend the morning presentations and join the afternoon study tour.
  • $75 ticket allows you to attend the morning presentations.

Banquet: You can purchase a ticket to Wednesday night’s banquet for $75.

Bonus

The first 100 registrants will receive a free copy of the updated edition of Inland Waterways of North America.

Shuttle bus

A shuttle bus will run between the Ramada Plaza in the Valley Mall area and the conference venue, the Maryland Theatre. The bus will run from 7:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. The cost of a shuttle bus ticket is $20 per person. The ticket is good for all four days of the conference.

There are several hotels in the Valley Mall area.

Parking pass

Those who wish to drive between their hotel and conference can purchase a parking pass for $10 per vehicle. The pass is good for all four days of conference.

There are parking garages in the vicinity of the theater.

Refund policy

All registrations are fully refundable at the customer’s request until July 1.

Because of continued pandemic-related uncertainties for international travel, registrants would live outside the United States may request a full refund until August 1.

We are aware that the COVID-19 pandemic makes travel decisions difficult. As we continue to plan a memorable and enjoyable conference, our primary concern is for the safety of participants, and we will monitor developments over the coming months. We are hopeful that conditions will improve and that canal lovers are  ready to gather again.

If conditions force us to cancel the conference, we will refund all registrations.

Pre-conference tour

Includes two nights’ accommodation (August 26-27) at the North Bethesda Marriott

  • $695 Double occupancy
  • $840 Single occupancy

Post-conference tour

Includes two nights’ accommodation (September 2-3) at the Cumberland Fairfield Inn

  • $540 Double occupancy
  • $650 Single occupancy

Students

We offer options for full-time students under the age of 30.

  • $275 Full conference registration through May 15
  • $500 Full conference registration May 16-July 31
  • $30 for a day ticket to attend the morning presentations

We may ask you to provide a copy of your student ID.
